First of-its-kind opioid treatment center to be built in Las Vegas valley
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Clark County stepping up efforts to combat the opioid crisis in the Las Vegas valley. The new facility is aimed at housing and helping those suffering from drug addiction.
“It can’t go unnoticed,” County Commissioner of District B, Marilyn Kirkpatrick said. “Whether it’s opiates that started out as a pain killer for folks or fentanyl, which is now the big drug of choice for many.”
Kirkpatrick acknowledges the need for more resources in the county.
“I worked really closely to negotiate the revenue for Clark County to be able to do this center.”
The Opioid Treatment Center will be located on the northeast side of the valley and the land and design concept are already in place. It’s expected to open in the next two years.
